For All You Hockey Fans
Do you think it's really likely that, any time a team struggles on its powerplay, the solution is to pass less and shoot the puck more? That seems to be the universal wisdom of hockey commentators anyway. Of course, when you score, there's usually a shot involved, so when the team that was struggling on the power play inevitably scores, and the final play before the puck goes in is a shot, the commentators take this as proof of their wisdom.

My favorite is still the "pot is a gateway drug" line of reasoning. Find a heroine addict, ask them is they've tried pot as kid and presto, you have proof that pot leads to heroine addiction. Of course so do cigarettes, beer and cocoa puffs.

Controlling the puck works better than random shots. I'm still remembering the 2:20 power play shift the Sedins had. They didn't score on the official power play, but they ran the opposition into the ground and scored afterwards.

lol! There's a lot of things wrong with hockey. What's funnier is how Bryan McCabe is treated by the media and Leaf fans. One day he's the hero; next day he's scum.

My grandfather came over from Wolverhampton long ago, and would watch the Leafs in black and white and urge them to "shoot the puck" in increasing frustration. They rarely did.
My hockey career ended early, when I was denied the chance to play goalie, a tragic loss for me and for the professional game.
But my life experience suggests there's a lot to be said for just shooting the puck at the net and seeing what happens next.
